Magical Maldives

There’s nothing like a holiday to make you feel refreshed and ready to take on 2015.

Over the Christmas break, I was fortunate to cross off one of my bucket list holiday destinations – the Maldives. It was somewhere my hubby Steve and I have always wanted to go and it was simply amazing.  Even now, three weeks after returning, we’re still pinching ourselves!

If you ever want to go somewhere to truly relax, I recommend an island holiday!  Our days were spent snorkelling the beautiful coral reefs and swimming with sea turtles and manta rays; eating delicious food (hello, fresh seafood!); enjoying a massage or two (or three); and watching the sun set each evening while drinking a cocktail or cold beer. No TVs, no social networking (OK once on Christmas Day), no stress and no distractions.  We simply enjoyed each other’s company and the beautiful surroundings. Perfect.

Everybody gets around by seaplane in the Maldives as the islands are spread so far apart (ours was 145m from the capital city Male). It was a super fun way to get to our resort, Kuredu.

Not a bad view to wake up to in the morning!

I spent a lot of time floating in the ocean on my holiday!

You can see  baby string rays and black tipped reef sharks along the edge of the water. They were quite cute.

Our first time swimming in an infinity pool – had to get a pic.

 The sunsets were stunning.

At night, the bottom of the infinity pool was lit up hundreds of coloured LED lights.
