Shannan and Marcus: Clifton wedding
As a wedding photographer, sometimes I’m lucky to travel to some awesome destinations for weddings. Shannan and Marcus’ wedding venue was definitely off the charts awesome! The bride and groom live and work on the largest goat dairy farm in Australia, in a sprawling property in Clifton in the Darling Downs. Yep, a goat dairy farm! It was such a fun place to photograph, made even better because it was somewhere that special to Shannan and Marcus.
Now, down to the nitty gritty…
1) How did you meet? Shannan – “My sister Bec and her husband Louie actually introduced us. I got a phone call from Louie and he had left me a voicemail message. His exact words were ‘Old Cheese (my nickname) – I’ve found you a man!’ That was how it started. I gave him my phone number, but dating was the last thing I was thinking of. I didn’t think Marcus would follow through but he called. He came to my home and he took me out to dinner. We talked and talked and that was it.”
2) Tell us about your proposal Shannan – “ He was very sneaky, I didn’t have a clue. The year before he had forgotten to give me my birthday present, so I kept reminding him not to forget my birthday. He asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said I wanted a pair of thongs, a shirt and a pocket knife. So when my birthday came around, I was lying in bed and I was waiting to open my presents. I was really excited about using my new pocketknife and trying on my thongs. I was waiting for him and I was wondering why he was taking so long. He came back into the room and he asked me to marry him.
3) Describe your partner in five words
(Marcus on Shannan) Dedicated, responsible, impatient, loyal and loving
(Shannan on Marcus) Workaholic, encouraging, loving, organised and handsome
4) Tell us about your wedding Shannan – “We are going for a relaxed, country wedding.”
