Lydia and Michael: Gabbinbar Homestead wedding
I don’t know what it is about Toowoomba, but I keep photographing these amazing weddings there! Lydia and Michael’s beautiful country wedding was held at the historic Gabbinbar Homestead in Toowoomba last week and was a lesson in elegance and sophistication. Here’s the lowdown on the big day…
How did you meet? Lydia – “Michael and I met while travelling in Croatia on the island named Korcula”
Tell us about your proposal. Lydia – “Michael proposed on an island called Nusa Lembongan in Bali. I went for a massage and Michael had set up flowers and champagne on the deck overlooking the bay.”
Describe your partner in five words. Lydia – “Michael is a supreme athlete, energetic, loyal, entertaining and confident.” Michael – “Lydia is caring, sensitive, funny, thoughtful and loyal”.
Tell us about your wedding. Lydia – “Elegant country meets city with a black and white theme. We wanted our wedding reception to be fun with lots of dancing to our country rock band”.
When the day starts off with some sparkly silver Jimmy Choos, you know it’s going to be good!
Lydia’s gorgeous wedding dress, made with Italian beaded fabric and tulle, was a bit of a surprise. Underneath her floor length tulle skirt, she had a sparkly little mini dress for dancing at the reception.
Meet our groom, Michael. He’s second from left, with the big grin!
Their wedding took place under a beautiful big tree in the gardens of Gabbinbar Homestead in Toowoomba.
The members of the bridal party were definitely glamorous looking!
My favourite image.
The wedding reception was held inside Gabbinbar’s amazing conservatory and was the perfect way to end the day.
The Dave Ritter Band got the party started with their rendition of Wild CHerry’s Play That Funky Music – Lydia and Michael’s funky choice for their first dance. Check out Lydia’s awesome mini dress.
